Abersoch Jazz Festival
By now the Abersoch Jazz Festival festival is in its seventh year, and a great success. As well as the musical aspect, a number of additional events are held to complement the main event and to promote environmental, social, cultural and economic aspects in the area, including, workshops, competitions and walks. It enables local children and young people to gain new experiences and skills by taking part in events and workshops over the course of the festival.

Llithfaen Footpaths
This project was developed in memory of Gwyn Elis (or Gwyn Plas as he was known), one of the founders of the Community Venture of Tafarn y Fic in Llithfaen. Gwyn was a bit of a local historian, and following a local fundraising initiative it was decided that a project would be developed to note the history and heritage of Llithfaen. The project includes creating a walk to commemorate the journey taken by the quarrymen, and installing a unique sculpture in the car park at Nant Gwrtheyrn to commemorate their hard work.

Llŷn Travel Guide
Money from the Fund was used to develop, produce and distribute the Llŷn travel guide. This became a very popular guide, which provides information about sustainable transport options about Llŷn, like trains, busses, car-sharing, cycling and walking.

National Sheepdog Trials
Competing in sheepdog trials is an important tradition on Llŷn, with many trials being held within the AONB every year. August 2008 saw the National Sheepdog Trials for Wales being held in Llŷn for the first time in over half a century. The event was funded by the SDF, and even though the weather was unfavourable, many visitors and competitors enjoyed the day and learn a little bit about the AONB and Llŷn.

Yellowhammer Habitat
Here’s a brilliant example of a project where a habitat is being created for the Yellowhammer on a small scale and small cost. Over in Tudweiliog with help from the RSPB, a local farmer is leaving strips of his corn fields un harvested over winter to provide a food source and shelter for this little bird.

Ysgol Nefyn Garden Project
There are many environmental projects that have benefited from the Fund. Here is an example of a project funded by SDF to create a  garden for Ysgol Nefyn, and turn a corner of a field into a garden where the children learnt how to grow vegetables and create a valuable wildlife habitat.
